IWSG: On holiday
It's the first Wednesday of the month--time for the IWSG post.
Why? The IWSG is here to share and encourage, to offer a place for authors to admit their insecurities and offer help and support to each other.
How? The official IWSG posting day is the first Wednesday of every month. Hop around the list and see who has worries, triumphs, and news to share.
Every month we have an optional question to spark discussion.
Our motto:
Let’s rock the neurotic writing world!
Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
The awesome co-hosts for the February 7 posting of the IWSG are Janet Alcorn, SE White, Victoria Marie Lees, and Cathrina Constantine!
Remember, the question is optional!
February 7 question: What turns you off when visiting an author's website/blog? Lack of information? A drone of negativity? Little mention of author's books? Constant mention of books?
I am actually missing both this and the next IWSG post (at least for the most part), due to travel. That said, I'll try to respond, at least, if you comment here, and really hope to get around to see what people think about author websites/blogs, since I'm constantly wondering what the heck I'm doing.
I can say that if all an author does with their blog is post about their own books and where they'll be appearing next, I won't be following them. And honestly, I usually follow blogs for interesting content or friendship, regardless of whether they are authors or what. So constant mention of their books or a drone of negativity would both tend to turn me off.
I hope to see some comments on peoples' blogs this month about what they like, as well! (Feel free to let me know what you like or dislike on my blog). I'll get back to you when I return from safari.
Bags and packed and I'm ready to go!
P.S. I have a draft of Washed Up With the Tide ready for beta-readers who can handle a bit of roughness. If you'd like to be one, please let me know.
I follow blogs for the same reasons as you. Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteSafari ? Enjoy. We're off to climb hills, in Scotland. Which is only just up the road.
ReplyDeleteI like the hills of Scotland, too. Have fun!
DeleteHave fun traveling!

ReplyDeleteI can’t really think of a reason why I’d go to Cleveland😁
